JAMB commissions mega CBT centre named in honour of Oloyede in Borno

The outgoing Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, on Wednesday commissioned a new Mega Professional Registration Centre donated by the Borno State Government, describing it as a monumental investment in education that would ease admission challenges for candidates across the North-East.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony alongside his successor, Prof. Segun Aina, Oloyede named the facility the Is-haq Oloyede JAMB Mega Professional Registration Centre and commended Gov Babagana Umara Zulum’s commitment to educational development in the state.
The ultra-modern facility, JAMB’s Acting Director of information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said sits on a 5,300 square-metre expanse of fenced and landscaped land, powered by a newly installed 300kVA transformer. Its main office complex houses eight offices, three conference rooms, four registration areas and 16 convenience facilities.
The centre also contains two Computer-Based Test halls fitted with 275 computers each, giving it the capacity to accommodate 500 candidates per examination session and up to 2,000 candidates daily during examinations. Two waiting areas with a combined capacity of 500 candidates, along with six further convenience facilities, have also been provided for candidates awaiting their sessions.
Gov Zulum laid the foundation for the project on 24 February 2026, and construction was completed in under six months, ahead of the timeline he had set. He disclosed that the Borno State Government invested more than N1 billion in the facility, stressing that its long-term benefits far outweighed the cost.
Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to education, describing it as the most effective way of tackling the state’s social and economic challenges.
Oloyede said the JAMB delegation had toured some of the smart schools established by the Borno State Government during the visit and was impressed by the governor’s determination to make education central to his administration’s agenda.
The incoming JAMB Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, also thanked Gov Zulum for what he called an excellent partnership between the Borno State Government and JAMB, and called for the relationship to be sustained to further strengthen the Board’s operations and advance educational development in the state.
This is the latest in a series of infrastructure interventions by state governments in support of JAMB’s operations, as the Board continues efforts to decentralise and expand access to its Computer-Based Test centres nationwide.
