JAMB extends deadline for acceptance of previous years’ admissions to Sept. 30

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates offered admission from 2021 to date to either accept or reject such offers to Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
The Board had earlier announced Monday, August 31, 2026, as the deadline for all candidates with admission offers from 2021 to date to indicate whether they accept or reject the offers.
According to JAMB, the extension represents a final opportunity for all affected candidates to take the necessary action before the expiration of the new deadline.
Candidates with pending admission offers, including regular and CUIIA admissions, who have not yet accepted or rejected such offers are strongly advised to do so before September 30.
The Board warned candidates against waiting until the deadline, stressing that failure to take the required action within the stipulated period would have consequences for the status of their admissions.
Candidates who accept their admission offers will be able to proceed to print and obtain their admission letters, while those who reject their offers will have their dashboards reverted to “Not Admitted”.
JAMB said this would enable it to update its records and ensure that its admission data accurately reflects the current status of candidates.
The Board also advised candidates who are no longer in the institutions where their previous admissions were offered, or who are currently studying programmes different from those for which the earlier admissions were offered, to accept the outstanding admissions and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion, as the case may be.
This, according to the Board, will enable it to appropriately update the candidates’ admission status and records.
Similarly, candidates currently pursuing a second degree but who still have previous admission offers that remain unaccepted may go ahead and reject such offers while continuing with their current programmes.
JAMB further clarified that candidates who have been offered admission in the 2026 admission exercise but still have previous admission offers pending should not be apprehensive.
Such candidates, it said, may reject the previous admission offers without any adverse effect on their 2026 admissions.
“The Board is providing this extension to give all affected candidates one final opportunity to indicate clearly whether they wish to accept or reject their outstanding admission offers and to enable the Board to maintain accurate, current and reliable national admission records,” JAMB stated.
It emphasised that there would be no further opportunity after the expiration of the extended deadline on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
“At the expiration of the deadline, all outstanding admission offers from 2021 to date that have neither been accepted nor rejected will automatically be reverted to ‘Not Admitted’ status and will remain so on the Board’s records,” the Board added.
JAMB, therefore, urged all affected candidates to act immediately and not wait until the deadline.
The Board stressed that failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period would render the offer invalid.
