2027: Tinubu’ll win 2027 presidential election on performance, says Alausa
By Uji A Iliyasu, Abuja
The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election on the strength of his administration’s achievements, particularly in education, skills development and human-capital investment.
Alausa stated this in Abuja during a visit to the City Boy Movement’s office, where he commended the president’s son, Seyi Tinubu, and members of the movement for their grassroots mobilisation and engagement with Nigerians across different social and ethnic groups.
The minister described the movement’s activities as evidence of volunteerism and collective responsibility, urging members to sustain their outreach and effectively communicate the Federal Government’s policies and programmes.
Alausa said President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is driven by a long-term vision aimed at improving opportunities for younger generations, despite the difficult decisions required to address Nigeria’s structural challenges.
He identified education as a major driver of the administration’s agenda, citing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as an intervention designed to ensure that financial difficulties do not prevent qualified students from accessing higher education.
Alausa also highlighted the expansion of technical and vocational education and training (TVET), disclosing that more than 250,000 Nigerians are benefiting from skills development programmes across approximately 1,200 training centres nationwide.
He said the programmes equip beneficiaries with practical skills in solar installation, fashion and garment production, carpentry, construction, animal husbandry and other technical trades.
The minister stressed that education must go beyond certificates to provide young Nigerians with practical competencies needed for employment, entrepreneurship and economic growth.
He further highlighted efforts to address accommodation and infrastructure deficits in tertiary institutions, as well as initiatives to expand nursing education and professional training.
Alausa said sustained investment in education and vocational training would strengthen Nigeria’s workforce, attract a vista of business opportunities and create jobs, particularly in emerging sectors such as business-process outsourcing.
He attributed the administration’s reform agenda to Tinubu’s determination to tackle longstanding economic challenges and create greater resources for essential public services, including education, healthcare and infrastructure.
The minister urged members of the City Boy Movement to promote constructive engagement and informed public discussions while cautioning Nigerians against misinformation and divisive tendencies.
He maintained that the administration’s performance in education, skills acquisition and human-capital development would remain central to public assessment ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The minister reiterated his commendation of Seyi Tinubu and the movement, stressing that patriotism, active citizenship and collective responsibility are essential to sustaining the Renewed Hope Agenda.
