The Centre
for Open Distance and e-Learning (CODeL) of the Federal University of
Technology, Minna (FUTMinna) has matriculated its pioneer students at the CODeL
complex, in Gidan Kwano.
Vice
chancellor of the university, Professor Abdullahi Bala, congratulated the
students for being the first set of students to be admitted for the
institution’s Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programme.
“Your
programme is more demanding than the conventional programmes because it
requires you to do a lot of assignments, constant virtual contact with your
tutors. It also demands that you make submission within specific time frame.
I therefore,
urge you all to pay due attention to all the laid down rules and
regulations,” Bala told the students.
The VC
disclosed that CODeL would provide the school with a powerful and useful
platform for the actualisation of its vision for enhanced access to quality
university education, and also for its drive for increased diversity, as well
as internationalisation of student enrolment.
Registrar of
the institution, Mr Amos Nmadu Kolo, administered the matriculation oath on the
24 admitted students.
FUTMinna is
one of the universities approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC)
to run B. Tech (Computer Science) via the ICT enabled learning model of Open
and Distance Learning (ODL).
