“You cannot continue to be threatening the
unity of this country because time has come that you cannot threaten people
because you want power, you need to lobby. You cannot look us in the face and
abuse the sensibility of all Nigerians and undermine the government and now say
because they are scared of you; this is primitive, who is afraid of you? He

report, the governor of Yobe state, Mai Mala Buni, has said the speculated
presidential ambition of the governor of Kaduna state, Malam Nasiru El-Rufa’i
and that of the APC leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu would not destabilise the party
as many have feared.
He said APC
would not have any problem in 2023 because President Buhari has laid a strong
foundation through good governance. Governor Buni also rejected the
presidential rotation or zoning that many have been agitating for ahead of
2023. He argued that restricting the presidency to a zone in 2023 will limit
the choices of Nigerians during the poll. Meanwhile, the Northern Elders’ Forum
(NEF) says by 2023 the north will only support candidates with genuine
commitment to deal with its problems and political will to meet the region’s
aspirations.

“The forum has observed that political
maneuvers around the 2023 elections are targeting the North as a region
available for exploitation. On national security, Abdullahi called for the
injection of a higher level of competence, integrity and accountability in the
manner Nigerian security agencies deal with security challenges,” he said.
