Education minister applauds Tinubu, security forces over safe rescue of abducted Oyo pupils, teachers

The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the successful rescue of pupils and teachers abducted from Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, describing the operation as a clear demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to the safety of every Nigerian child.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Ikharo Attah, the Minister commended the Oyo State Government and security agencies for their collaborative efforts in securing the victims’ safe release.
Dr Alausa specifically praised Governor Seyi Makinde and the Oyo State Government for their cooperation with security agencies, sustained support throughout the rescue efforts, and commitment to the welfare, rehabilitation and reintegration of the victims with their families.
He also lauded the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Police Force, and other agencies involved in the operation for their professionalism, coordination and sacrifice, which led to the rescue of the victims and the arrest of the perpetrators.
“The successful rescue of these innocent children and their teachers is a moment of great relief for the nation. It reflects the determination of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to protect the lives of Nigerians,” the Minister said.
He congratulated the President on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education, commended the Oyo State Government’s support, and appreciated the bravery of security personnel whose efforts, he said, had restored hope to affected families and reassured Nigerians of the resolve of national institutions against criminality.
Dr Alausa expressed sympathy to the pupils, teachers and their families over the trauma endured during captivity, praying for their speedy physical and psychological recovery.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening school safety nationwide in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, and urged communities, parents and school authorities to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with security agencies to keep schools safe for teaching, learning experience.
