In an era when many states grapple with indecision, bureaucratic inertia, and policy half-measures, Jigawa State stands out, once again, under the bold, visionary, and uncompromising leadership of His Excellency Malam Umar A. Namadi.
The resolutions of the Jigawa State Executive Council meeting of Wednesday, 3 December, 2025, are not just routine government announcements; they are a powerful declaration of intent, a masterclass in governance, and a clear proof that Jigawa is sprinting toward a future built on education, infrastructure, innovation, and inclusive growth.
Governor Namadi has shown firmly and unapologetically that development is not achieved by speeches or slogans but by daring policies backed by actionable frameworks. His decisions, as highlighted by the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport, and Culture, Sagir Musa Ahmed, reaffirm that Jigawa’s transformation is no accident. It is the product of deliberate, data-driven, and people-centred governance.
Let us begin with the most groundbreaking of all resolutions: the Back-to-School Initiative, which now carries the full political weight of the administration. For the first time in Jigawa’s history, political appointees, advisers, local government chairmen, and senior government officials are being held personally responsible for returning out-of-school children to the classroom. This is not just reform but a revolution in accountability.
The Governor’s directive that every senior political appointee must ensure at least 100 children return to school, while Local Government Chairmen must each secure 1,000 returns, is nothing short of radical, courageous, and humane. Few leaders in Nigeria are bold enough to tie the performance of their officials to something as fundamental as education access. Governor Namadi has not only done so but has done it with strategic precision: establishing both Steering and Technical Committees to coordinate implementation statewide.
This is what visionary leadership looks like. This is how nations are built. One child, one school, one community at a time.
Governor Namadi’s governance philosophy appears to rest on a simple but profound truth: a society that neglects its children is a society that mortgages its future. With these directives, he has placed education at the heart of Jigawa’s human capital agenda, ensuring that sons and daughters of farmers, artisans, traders, and low-income households are not left behind.
But the Council’s resolutions go even further, touching all the essential pillars of development. The approval of a ₦1.575 billion mobilisation for 35,000 petrol-driven water pumps is a massive boost to the agricultural sector. While some leaders only talk about supporting farmers, Governor Namadi is investing directly in the tools that will increase productivity, strengthen food security, and raise incomes. He understands that agriculture is the backbone of Jigawa’s economy, and he is fortifying it with real resources, not empty promises.
The additional ₦3.08 billion approved for the Balago–Auno–Kafin Hausa Road is another clear sign that the Governor is rejecting the Nigerian tradition of abandoned or poorly executed projects. Instead, he is doubling down on quality, durability, and economic relevance. Roads are the arteries of commerce, and Governor Namadi is ensuring that Jigawa’s arteries remain strong, functional, and future-ready.
His attention to education infrastructure through the 2025 Constituency Projects—new classrooms, furniture, study materials, and learning aids—further demonstrates a holistic understanding of what it takes to raise a literate and empowered generation.
And yet, the Governor is not stopping there. The approval of solar-powered water schemes, solar streetlights, and advanced agro-processing technologies reflects a forward-looking commitment to sustainability, innovation, and youth empowerment. In a world racing toward renewable energy and climate-smart agriculture, Jigawa has refused to be left behind.
Equally commendable is the move to harmonize taxes and align state revenue laws with national reforms. This is how investment climates are improved. This is how states attract businesses. Governor Namadi is not only building physical infrastructure—he is also building institutional integrity.
Finally, the approval for office accommodation for the World Bank–assisted SPIN project underscores Jigawa’s readiness to collaborate with global partners and host strategic interventions that will shape the future of energy and irrigation.
Through all of this, one name keeps emerging as the articulate voice amplifying the Governor’s work: Sagir Musa Ahmed, the Honourable Commissioner for Information. His clarity, professionalism, and commitment to transparent communication reflect both personal competence and the Governor’s insistence on credible leadership across all ministries.
In all, the Council’s resolutions prove beyond doubt that Governor Namadi is not merely administering Jigawa, he is transforming it. With foresight, firmness, compassion, and unparalleled vision, he is writing a new chapter in the state’s history.
