JAMB lauded for upholding high standards in 450 civil servants promotion exam

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Friday conducted a promotional examination for junior workers under the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoS).
About 450 members of staff took part in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) held at Ade-Ola International School, Kubwa, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking to journalists after the test, the director in charge of JAMB’s Abuja Zonal Office, Hajia Zainab Hamzat, described the conduct of the examination as smooth and hitch-free.
She said 476 staff were expected to sit the examination, but 450 eventually participated.
“Everything went well as usual. We call it a third-party examination. It is a promotion exam for workers under the HoS. All the officers sat for the test as part of the promotion process,” Hamzat said.
“We had two sessions, morning and afternoon. In the morning, we expected 250 candidates, but 232 were present. In the afternoon session, 226 were expected, and eight were absent.
“The examination was for all junior staff under the HoS, including immigration officers, firefighters, civil defence personnel, and other paramilitary workers.”
Also speaking, the director of Ade-Ola International School, Kubwa, Mrs Mercy Olaosegbe, commended JAMB for maintaining high professional standards in its conduct of such examinations.
She said: “The exercise went very well. Our centre is fully equipped with the required facilities. JAMB does not permit participation unless a centre meets its strict standards. Because our facilities meet those standards, we have consistently hosted third-party examinations conducted by JAMB.”
