2023 UTME: No exam one hour after scheduled time — JAMB
Ahead of the conduct of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that as part of measures to enhance the sanctity of the examination, it would not allow any examination to take place one hour after the scheduled
commencement time.
JAMB in a statement madee available to Blueprint Monday by its Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said the affected session should it be on grounds of technical challenge (s) from the board would be schedulled for other avaiable sessions.
It added that the affected candidates woud be required to wait at their centre to receive official communication from
the board’s national headquarters,
Abuja, as to when their lost session would be rescheduled.
The statement reads in part, “Candidates would be notified of their new scheduled centre before they leave the examination centre. “Furthermore, no candidate is allowed to spend less than
one hour before submission during his/her examination.”
JAMB has found that late commencement of examination or early departure from examination hall could jeopardise the conduct of the examination by giving some candidates undue advantage over their contemporaries taking the examination.
The board said that the new advisories are to ensure a level playing field for all candidates taking the examination.
