Ohanaeze Ndigbo inaugurates 2025 constitution review committee

The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator Azuta Mbata, has inaugurated the 2025 Constitution Review Committee (CRC) to review the existing constitution of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Enugu by the National Publicity Secretary of the organisation, Dr. Ezechi Chukwu.
According to the statement, Chief Anthony Idigbe (SAN) will serve as Chairman of the committee. Other members include Chief Dili Biosah, Anozie Obi, Chief Ray Nkemdirim, C.J. Okori-Akirika, Dr. Dozie Nwosu, and Dr. Boniface Chima.
Also appointed to the committee are Chief David Nwachukwu, Prof. Osita Ogbu, Prof. Fabian Onah, Henry Akunebu (SAN), Mr. Calistus Ekenze, Mr. Ndubuisi Agumagu, Dr. John Okolie, Prof. Chinwe Obaji, Dr. Grace Okudo, Mr. Okeagu Ogadah, and Chizoba Iheka.
Senator Mbata emphasized the need for an effective constitution to guide the optimal administration of the organisation. He urged the committee to prioritize the welfare of the Igbo people in their review.
According to Chukwu, the president-general expressed a strong desire to strengthen the Ohanaeze constitution to promote transparency, credibility, grassroots participation, unity, and the general well-being of all Igbos—regardless of location.
Mbata also stressed that the unity and collective good of the Igbo nation must remain paramount in the committee’s deliberations.
The committee has been given one month to submit an interim report ahead of its presentation to the Imeobi, the organisation’s highest decision-making body.
In his remarks, the chairman of the committee thanked the President-General and the Ohanaeze leadership for the confidence reposed in them. He assured that the committee would deliver a constitution that meets the aspirations of the organization.
