GovTech: Public service award to Gov Umar Namadi well deserved

The forthcoming 2025 Nigeria GovTech Conference and Public Service Awards promises to be yet another historic moment in the annals of our nation’s governance reform. Among the distinguished leaders to be honoured, the Governor of Jigawa State, His Excellency Umar Namadi, stands out as a true embodiment of visionary leadership, innovation, and commitment to service. His recognition at this year’s awards is not only well-deserved but also a testament to the steady and purposeful transformation unfolding under his watch.
Governor Namadi’s journey in leadership is underpinned by a rare blend of intellectual rigour, humility, and determination. Since assuming office, he has demonstrated that governance, when anchored on innovation and strategic foresight, can indeed deliver tangible benefits to the people. Jigawa, a state often underestimated in the national narrative, has increasingly become a reference point for reform and progress. As Nigeria continues to grapple with developmental challenges—ranging from insecurity to unemployment and institutional decay—the country needs more leaders in the mould of Umar Namadi. Leaders who understand that governance must evolve with the times; leaders who see technology not as a luxury but as a necessity; and leaders who are willing to place service above self.
