FG deploys digital dashboard to monitor FCT basic schools

The Federal Government has taken another step towards advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the education sector with the deployment of a digital monitoring dashboard to the Federal Capital Territory Universal Basic Education Board (FCT UBEB).
The initiative, powered by the Nigerian Education Data Infrastructure (NEDI) and implemented by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, is aimed at improving school supervision, strengthening accountability, and promoting data-driven decision-making across basic education institutions.
Speaking during the handover ceremony in Abuja, the Director of Information and Communication Technology at the Federal Ministry of Education, Zainab Abukur, who represented the Minister of Education, described the deployment as a significant milestone in the Federal Government’s efforts to modernise education governance through technology.
She said the dashboard will provide real-time access to education data generated through NEDI, enabling administrators to remotely monitor school activities and performance across the Federal Capital Territory.
She explained that the platform would reduce dependence on routine physical inspections while ensuring that policymakers and education managers have access to accurate and up-to-date information for timely interventions.
Abukur noted that the deployment aligns with the Federal Government’s commitment to building a more transparent, efficient, and responsive education system capable of delivering improved learning outcomes.
“The adoption of digital tools reflects the government’s determination to strengthen accountability and ensure evidence-based decision-making within the education sector,” she said.
Receiving the dashboard on behalf of the board, Acting Chairman of FCT UBEB, Florence Wenegeme, described the intervention as timely and strategic.
She stated that the digital platform would significantly improve oversight and management of schools within the FCT, while enhancing service delivery and supporting ongoing reforms aimed at improving educational standards.
Wenegeme commended the Federal Government, UBEC, and other stakeholders for sustaining initiatives that leverage technology to modernise education administration and improve operational efficiency.
Following the handover ceremony, members of the technical team conducted a live demonstration of the dashboard’s features and monitoring capabilities. The demonstration showcased how education managers can access school-level data, track performance indicators, and generate reports to support planning and decision-making processes.
Education stakeholders at the event expressed optimism that the deployment would enhance transparency and accountability in the management of basic education resources and programmes.
The Federal Ministry of Education reiterated that the initiative represents another practical step towards achieving the objectives of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the education sector, and pledged to continue driving reforms and expanding digital innovation to ensure measurable improvements in access, quality, and efficiency across Nigeria’s basic education system.
