The Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, has urged prospective corps members to imbibe the spirit of dignity of labour and appreciate the virtues of self-employment in the service of fatherland.
This is contained in a statement ftom the office of the DG Sunday.
The statement reminded the young graduates that salary jobs are hard to come by at present, so they should avail themselves of opportunities provided by the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme of the scheme.
General brahim spoke of a number of ex-SAED trainees who are now owners of flourishing businesses across the nation, adding that some who decided to learn automobile repairs and fashion design were mocked by friends who saw no reason why graduates should go for such vocations. But remaining focused and determined, they are now employers of labour.
“Today, apart from reaping fortunes from their businesses, they have also trained and empowered hundreds of youths of the host communities.
“So, I advise you to identify your talents, pursue your dreams with passion and the sky will be your limit,” DG told them.
He further urged them to ensure healthy interactions during the orientation course and be in the vanguard for the promotion of national unity and integration throughout the service year and beyond.
Aware of the need for strict compliance with the COVID-19 prevention protocols, he warned the youths to observe its protocols as directed by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
