Agatu communities on peace restoration path

Farmers in Agatu local government area of Benue State, Northcentral Nigeria, for long have been thrown into crisis with herders. The crisis which started as far back as 2014 remained unresolved after more than a decade untill the coming of the current chairman, Melvin Ejeh.
Mr Ejeh is not leaving any stone unturned towards making sure that peace is returned to Agatu and displaced villages return to their ancestoral homes.
In a statement, Hon. Ejeh reaffirmed his commitment to restoring tranquility to the area declaring: “We are more resolved than ever to return peace and security to the only land of our father, Agatu Local Government area of Benue State.”
The statement noted that Mr Ejeh’s determination to return Agatu communities to peace is unshakeable, therefore, “he remains undeterred by the conspiracies of a minority few.”
He said, “No amount of conspiracy by a very few minorities can stop us,” adding, “Double energy activated.”
This renewed determination comes as a beacon of hope for the people of Agatu, who had faced numerous challenges in recent times arising from intermittent herders’ invasion with accompanying results of mass killing of innocent farmers, women and children as well as burning of houses and other valuable assets to ashes.
Now there is a new narative; under Hon. Melvin Ejeh’s leadership, the local government has been engaging herders and all stakeholders to ensure Agatu enjoy peace again.
As the council chairman continues to drive initiatives aimed at promoting peace and security, the people of Agatu can look forward to a brighter future. With Hon. Ejeh at the helm, Agatu Local Government Area is poised for a transformative era of growth, development, and harmony.”
