How Gov. Aliyu bagged ANCOPSS’ excellence award in education

The All Nigerian Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) has awarded Gov. Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State with the Best Performing Governor Award’ in recognition of his sterling contributions to the development of education in Sokoto State.
This was contained in a release signed by Press Secretary to Sokoto State Government Abubakar Bawa on Thursday.
The state chairman of the association, Muhammed Ikililu, dropped this hint when he led other members of ANCOPSS on a Sallah homage on Gov. Aliyu.
He said the decision by ANCOPSS to confer the Gov. Aliyu with the Best Performing Governor Award was in recognition of his outstanding performance in the education sector among his peers.
Malam Ikililu highlighted some of the tangible achievements recorded by Gov. Aliyu to include the renovation of many secondary and primary schools in the state.
He said prior to the coming of the Ahmed Aliyu-led administration, all Secondary schools in the state were in a state of disrepair, lacking conducive classrooms, staff rooms, toilet facilities for both teachers and students as well as general conducive learning environment.
Governor Aliyu has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to transforming the state’s educational landscape, earning well-deserved recognition from the All Nigerian Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS). His receipt of the Best Performing Governor Award is a testifies his exceptional contributions to the sector. Under his leadership, Sokoto has witnessed a significant revival in its educational infrastructure, with numerous secondary and primary schools undergoing extensive renovations, including the provision of essential amenities like functional toilets and conducive classrooms. This has directly addressed long-standing issues, such as the lack of facilities that hindered female students’ attendance.
Governor Aliyu’s proactive measures, such as introducing a monthly cash allocation for school repairs and increasing student feeding allowances, have had a tangible impact on improving student turnout and retention rates.
