Innovative College of Education, Karu, holds maiden matriculation

The Innovative College of Educaton, Karu, holds its maiden matriculation ceremony for 2020/2021 students on their campus in Karu, Nasarawa state Friday.
The founder/proprietor of the college, Dr G.A. Oladejobi, said that the college is a student-centred institution built for grooming professional and new generation teachers in Nigeria and beyond.
He added that the college aims to produce a total teacher that will make a total impact on the lives of the learners, even as the college will produce trained, qualified, experienced and knowledgeable teachers that are skilfull in discharging their duties effectively.
speaking further, the director said the college believes in pursuing the goal of teacher education as specified in the national policy on education since no education system can rise above the quality of its teachers.
“At Innovative College of Education, we take pride in training students in academic work. We are focused on the character development of our students and teachers. It is based on the assumption that when they graduate from here, they will contribute meaningfully to developmental discourses across the globe.
“Our goal as Innovative College of Education is to raise godly teachers who will doninate the education sector. The dominant narrative is that College of Education is the place of freedom. However, here at the college, that freedom often comes with some equivalent obligations and boundaries,” the Director said.
A cross section of the matriculating students He noted that the college has stratgic vision to offer the best in cutting edge research and service delivery in science management and leadership education.
“In the process she will showcase her drive for creativity and innovation on several fronts.
“We are pleased to inform our distinguished guests that the college offers courses that are of commercial value. Our teaching approach is market-oriented and entrepreneural-based. Therefore, graduates of this college of education cannot join the army of job seekers in the nation, rather they will be owners and pioneers of educational business in some years to come.”
On his part, the provost of the college, Dr Maro Joshua Embugu, warned the new students against examination malpractice and secret cults. He also advised the students to work hard to attain their ambition of obtaining the Nigeria Certificate of Education from the college without hitches.
“As pioneer students, we want to mention here that, examination malpractice is considered as one of the most serious crimes in this college. Any student involved will be expelled. Let me also warn, therefore that, if anyone is caught cheating during examination, whether in the examination or through any other means will be summarily expelled,” the provost said.
The provost appealed to the new students to make governing council and management of the college proud by keeping the matriculation oaths in the conduct of their life by always being obedient, loyal and dedicated as well as using peaceful, constituted means to seek redress in the event disagreement with the authority.
“Of recent, the issue of secret cults and societies have raised their ugly heads in some institutions in the country. I advise you in your own interest to keep away from such clutists activities. You are also advised to maintain decency and righteousness in all ramifications.”
The well attended ceremony culminated in oath taking by the new students which was administered by the Registrar of the college, Dr. Oluwadare Andrew Kayode.
