JAMB delists 23 CBT centres, sanctions others

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has delisted 23 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide following technical deficiencies observed during the 2026 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Board also issued warnings to several other centres over minor operational lapses, while permanently barring one Lagos-based facility from participating in any future examinations.
JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, reiterating the Board’s zero-tolerance policy for substandard examination facilities.
According to the statement, the action followed a comprehensive post-examination review of the mock UTME, which serves both as a preparatory exercise for candidates and a quality assurance mechanism for evaluating the Board’s examination infrastructure.
“The mock UTME provides a platform to assess our level of preparedness and identify centres that fall short of the required operational and technical standards,” the Board stated.
JAMB noted that the affected centres are spread across several states, including Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, and Plateau.
Some of the delisted centres are located in major urban areas such as Abuja and Lagos, including facilities in Maitama and Lugbe in the FCT, as well as Ikorodu, Lekki, and Ejigbo in Lagos State.
The Board emphasised that the decision reflects its commitment to preserving the integrity of its examinations by ensuring that only centres meeting strict technical and operational standards are accredited for the main UTME.
“Following our internal review mechanisms, a number of centres failed to meet the required standards. Consequently, decisive steps have been taken to ensure that only centres that are fully prepared and compliant participate,” the statement added.
In addition to the delisted centres, numerous CBT facilities nationwide have been placed on notice and advised to upgrade their systems or risk similar sanctions.
JAMB also singled out a Lagos-based centre, Ha-Shem Academy, Yaba, which has been blacklisted and will no longer be eligible to host any of its examinations.
The Board reaffirmed that these measures form part of broader efforts to safeguard the credibility, transparency, and seamless conduct of the UTME, Nigeria’s primary gateway to tertiary education.
