The Emir of Lapai, Alhaji Umar Bago
III, has commended the management of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University,
Lapai (IBBUL), in Niger state, for taking laudable steps towards attracting
critical projects that have greatly accelerated the landmark development of the
institution.

He gave the commendation while on an
inspection tour of both completed and ongoing projects at the main campus of
the school. He expressed satisfaction with the level of mutual relationship
that existed between the university and the host community.

school management of his continued support and cooperation to sustain the

Earlier, Professor Maiturare, while
receiving the emir in the Senate chamber, said management was grateful for the
hospitality and mutual relationship existing between the university and the
host community, which he said had immensely helped to create a peaceful
learning atmosphere in the school.

Maiturare later led the emir and his
entourage, on an inspection tour to some completed and ongoing projects at the
main campus.

Some of the projects inspected are
the 300-seat capacity twin lecture theatre, x-ray unit of the university
clinic, ongoing e-learning and medical college, as well as the Centre for
Applied Sciences and Technology Research (CASTER). The projects are all
financed by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

The emir, in a remark, expressed
displeasure with the performance of the contractor handling the ongoing IBBUL’s
medical college project. He however, charged the contractor to redouble his
efforts in order to meet up with the project’s completion deadline, and in line
with design specifications.

Other projects inspected were an
80-room capacity hostel funded by the Niger State Development Company (NSDC),
and the perimeter fencing of the main campus, whose contract was awarded by the
Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
