The Nasarawa state
government says it spends N350 million annually to feed students in public
secondary schools in the state.

The Commissioner
for Education, Science and Technology, Hajiya Fatu Sabo, stated this in Lafia,
the state captal, during the distribution of food items to 29 boarding
secondary schools. She said the state government spent over N29 million monthly
on the feeding of students in all the state-owned public boarding secondary
schools, adding that as part of the ongoing reforms in the education sector,
the state government had made school feeding a priority. She called on
principals to ensure judicious use of the food items as the ministry would take
punitive action against any reported case of food diversion.

The food items
