NECO warns public against recruitment portals requiring payment for exam supervisors

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has alerted the public to the existence of fake online recruitment portals claiming to be recruiting examination supervisors for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.
The Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr Azeez Sani, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, warning prospective applicants against fraudsters who request payments and personal academic credentials through unauthorized websites.
According to the Council, the fake portals are misleading members of the public into believing that payment is required to secure appointment as examination supervisors. NECO stressed that it does not demand any payment from teachers applying to serve as supervisors in its examinations.
The Council explained that, in line with the recommendations of the Ministerial Committee on the Improvement of Quality of Examination in Nigeria, it has migrated from the traditional analogue method of recruiting supervisors and assistant supervisors to a fully electronic process.
NECO stated that all qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above, who are at least 30 years old and interested in serving as supervisors for the 2026 SSCE Internal, should apply through its official recruitment portal at supervisor.neco.gov.ng.
The examination body emphasized that the recruitment process is fully automated and does not require the involvement of any third party. It noted that the new digital system is designed to curb fraud, reduce examination malpractice, and promote fairness, transparency, and credibility in the recruitment of supervisors.
The Council further disclosed that more than 22,000 supervisors would be recruited to ensure the smooth conduct of the 2026 SSCE Internal Examination, scheduled to commence on June 15, 2026.
NECO urged applicants and members of the public to remain vigilant and avoid dealing with unauthorized websites or individuals claiming to facilitate recruitment on behalf of the Council.
