NELFUND warns public over fake student loan portal

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a fresh warning to the public regarding a fake website and fraudulent message currently circulating online, which falsely claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the reopening of the NELFUND Student Loan portal.
In a statement released Monday in Abuja and signed by the Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFUND strongly advised Nigerians to disregard the deceptive message and refrain from engaging with the fake platform.
“The attention of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has been drawn to a fraudulent message currently circulating online, falsely claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the reopening of the NELFUND Student Loan portal, with a link to a fake website: https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/,” the statement read.
“We wish to categorically state that this website is FAKE, and the information contained in the message is false and misleading.”
The Fund emphasized that the only official website for student loan applications remains https://nelf.gov.ng, and urged students, parents, and guardians to be cautious and avoid submitting personal or financial details on unverified platforms.
