NIGERIA’S 63RD INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY: NO CELEBRATION BY CITIZENS

Nigeria is the giant of Africa, no doubt. Again, Nigeria is the dwarf of Africa, undoubtedly.

Nigeria is a giant because it has more of both human and material resources comparable to any of her sister nation in   Africa, but corrupt and inefficient leadership that seized the country and manages her destiny plunged the once glorious country into a regrettable giant.

The purpose of the government is to protect the citizens and ensure their welfare, but in Nigeria, the expensive presidential system and the mostly corrupt leaders are the bane of democracy.

Before today, Independence Day was celebrated with joy and hope. Now the idea of October 1 was a nightmare to all outside of governance cycle as the citizens, wallowing in abject poverty and hopelessness,  no longer think they have a government. 

In Nigeria, the previous government is always better than  the present. It is an evil cycle which has remained unbroken since independence. 

Therefore, leaders must know that the era of smiling in hardship is gone; no citizen, except the slave masters in government and their families and friends will mark the 63rd anniversary. Nigerians cannot mark years of enslavement, unemployment, climate of fear, uncertainty and an alarming cost of living inflicted on them by the few in government.
