Setting the record straight on baseless claims against Umar Namadi

The attention of well-meaning citizens of Jigawa State has been drawn to a sensational and misleading report alleging that the administration of Gov Umar Namadi is in secret negotiations with Mustapha Lamido and his father, Sule Lamido, with promises of high-profile political positions ahead of the 2027 elections.
Ordinarily, such claims would not merit a response, given their speculative and unsubstantiated nature. However, for the sake of clarity and to prevent the unsuspecting public from being misled, it has become necessary to set the record straight. no
First and foremost, these allegations clearly emanate from opposition elements and political ill-wishers who are uncomfortable with the growing acceptance and performance-driven governance style of Gov Namadi.
These individuals, long accustomed to a “food is ready” approach to leadership, where governance is reduced to patronage, handouts, and personal enrichment, are naturally threatened by a system that prioritises discipline, accountability, and sustainable development.
Gov Namadi’s administration has, since inception, distinguished itself through a clear departure from the politics of entitlement. Rather than pandering to a few selfish interests, the government has remained focused on policies that uplift the broader population of Jigawa State.
From agricultural reforms and youth empowerment initiatives to infrastructural development and prudent fiscal management, the administration has consistently demonstrated a commitment to long-term growth over short-term political gratification.
It is, therefore, not surprising that those who thrived under less transparent systems now seek to discredit this administration through concocted stories and political propaganda. The claim that the government is offering the position of Deputy Governor, senatorial tickets, and other appointments as bargaining chips is not only false but also insults the integrity of the current leadership.
Gov Namadi has repeatedly emphasised that governance is not a marketplace for political bargaining, but a responsibility entrusted by the people. His approach has been rooted in merit, inclusivity, and the rule of law, not in backdoor deals or desperate political manoeuvres.
Furthermore, it is important to note that political alignments and realignments are a normal feature of any democratic system. However, such movements, when they occur, are typically driven by shared vision and ideology, not by the kind of transactional politics being alleged.
To suggest otherwise is to underestimate the intelligence of the people of Jigawa State and to trivialise the seriousness of Namadi’s governance style.
The timing of this report is also telling. Coming on the heels of reported internal disagreements within certain political circles, it appears to be a deliberate attempt to create confusion, sow discord, and project weakness where none exists.
This is a familiar tactic employed by those who lack credible alternatives to offer the electorate.
Let it be clearly stated: the administration of Gov Namadi is not distracted by political noise. The focus remains firmly on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Jigawa State. Roads are being constructed, schools are being improved, healthcare services are being strengthened, and agricultural productivity is receiving unprecedented attention. These are the real issues that matter to the people, not fabricated stories designed to score cheap political points.
It is also worth addressing the broader implication of such reports. By constantly pushing narratives centred on political appointments and power-sharing deals, the opposition reveals its own mindset, one that views governance primarily as a means of personal gain rather than public service. This stands in stark contrast to the philosophy of the current administration, which places the welfare of the masses above the interests of a privileged few.
The people of Jigawa State are discerning. They can see the difference between genuine leadership and opportunistic politics. They understand that meaningful development requires patience, planning, and sacrifice, not the instant gratification promised by the “food is ready” school of thought.
We, therefore, urge the public to disregard this baseless report in its entirety. It is nothing more than a product of political desperation, crafted by individuals who are unsettled by the steady progress being made under Gov Namadi’s leadership.
Jigawa State is on a path of transformation, guided by a leader who is committed to integrity, service, and sustainable development. No amount of misinformation or political scheming can derail this trajectory.
The government remains open to all constructive engagement that advances the interests of the state. However, it will not be drawn into distractions orchestrated by selfish and greedy individuals whose primary concern is the restoration of a system that benefits only a select few.
The future of Jigawa is too important to be compromised by the antics of those clinging to outdated and self-serving political practices. Under Gov Namadi, the state will continue to move forward, focused, determined, and united in purpose.
