JAMB releases 279 UTME results previously withheld for investigation

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of 279 results that were previously withheld pending further investigation into suspected examination malpractice during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The development brings relief to hundreds of candidates who had been anxiously awaiting the outcome of the Board’s review process.
The release, confirmed by the Board’s Public Communication Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, is in addition to results earlier cleared and published by JAMB.
It follows a painstaking review process through which the Board assessed evidence gathered from various examination centres across the country.
According to the Board, the decision to release or cancel withheld results was determined strictly on the strength of evidence available against each affected candidate. Where investigations revealed no prima facie case of wrongdoing, results were duly released. However, in instances where culpability was clearly established, the affected results were outrightly cancelled in line with the Board’s zero-tolerance policy on examination malpractice.
JAMB noted that its live monitoring team, which was deployed across examination centres during the conduct of the UTME, flagged several centres where suspicious activities were observed.
Additional adverse reports were also received from invigilators, supervisors, and other stakeholders involved in the administration of the examination. Results from these flagged centres remain withheld as investigations continue.
“The Board wishes to assure all stakeholders that the process of review is being conducted transparently, diligently, and in strict accordance with established regulations,” Dr. Benjamin stated. “No result will be released where there is sufficient reason to believe that the integrity of the examination was compromised, and no candidate will be penalised without evidence.”
The Board further clarified that the ongoing investigation is part of its broader commitment to upholding the credibility and sanctity of the UTME, which serves as the primary gateway to tertiary education for millions of Nigerian students annually.
JAMB stressed that examination malpractice not only undermines merit but also erodes public confidence in the education system.
Candidates whose results are yet to be released are urged to remain calm and patient as investigations progress.
The Board has, however, provided a self-service option for candidates to check their result status. Affected candidates are advised to send the keyword UTMERESULT to 55019 or 66019 using the same mobile phone number with which they registered for the examination.
JAMB assured that all outstanding results will be resolved as expeditiously as possible, and that further updates will be communicated to the public through official channels. The Board urged candidates to rely only on verified information from its official platforms to avoid misinformation.
