Student Loan: NELFUND instructs institutions to verify and upload beneficiaries’ data

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has directed tertiary institutions to verify and upload their students’ data onto the Student Loan Application System (SLAS).
In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday and signed by the Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the Fund announced that the SLAS has now been fully digitised to streamline and expedite the student loan application process for both institutions and applicants.
According to Oluwatuyi, all accredited institutions are now required to request access to the SLAS in order to verify and upload student data relevant to loan applications.
She urged institutions to act promptly in the best interest of their students, noting that verification and data submission by institutions are mandatory steps before final loan approval and disbursement can occur.
Students have been advised to contact the Fund for assistance via email at [email protected] or through its official social media channels.
Oluwatuyi added that if a student’s portal status currently reads “Verified,” it means their application has successfully passed the initial checks. However, final approval and disbursement remain contingent upon the institution confirming and uploading the student’s data.
“This is a crucial step that ensures the timely processing and disbursement of approved student loans,” she said. “Institutions that have not yet been onboarded onto the system are kindly requested to send an access request to [email protected] without delay.
“Once granted access, institutions will be able to view a real-time dashboard of their students’ loan applications, verify submitted data, and monitor the status of each application.
“Upon completion of this process, the student’s status will be updated to ‘Disbursed’ once payment of their fees has been processed,” she concluded.
