Student upkeep allowance remains ₦20, 000 –NELFUND

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has clarified that the approved monthly upkeep allowance for student loan beneficiaries remains ₦20,000, dismissing reports claiming the allowance was increased to ₦25,000.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the Fund said misinformation had been circulating regarding the amount paid to students under the loan scheme, urging beneficiaries to ignore unofficial information.
The statement, signed by the Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, emphasized that there has been no change to the monthly upkeep allowance approved for students.
“The approved upkeep allowance remains ₦20,000 monthly, and not ₦25,000 as being reported. Students are advised to disregard any contrary information and rely only on official NELFUND communication channels for accurate updates,” the statement said.
NELFUND reiterated its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and student-focused support nationwide, while appreciating the cooperation of student beneficiaries across the country.
The Fund advised students seeking further clarification to contact the agency through its official communication channels, including email and social media platforms.
