TRCN releases results of teachers’ professional qualifying examination

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has announced the release of results for its recently concluded Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE), held nationwide from May 15 to 17, 2025.
The Council made this known in a statement on Wednesday, signed by the Registrar and Chief Executive, Dr. (Mrs.) Ronke Soyombo.
“The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), under the leadership of Dr. Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, the Registrar/Chief Executive, is pleased to announce the release of the results of the recently conducted Batch ‘A’ Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE), which took place from May 15–17, 2025, nationwide,” the statement read.
According to the TRCN, a total of 13,782 candidates registered for the examination. Of this number, 12,874 candidates (93.4%) sat for the exam, while 908 candidates (6.6%) were absent. The results revealed that 8,705 candidates (67.62%) passed, while 4,169 candidates (32.38%) did not meet the qualifying mark.
Lagos State recorded the highest pass rate at 80.0%, followed by Edo State with 73.3%, and Niger State with 69.2%. The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) placed fourth with a pass rate of 68.3%.
While acknowledging some challenges encountered during the examination—particularly low digital literacy among certain candidates—the Council noted that measures are being taken to address these issues. Plans are underway to offer digital literacy training, curriculum support, and access to past questions online.
Candidates who took part in the examination have been advised to check their results through the Council’s official websites, www.fron.gov.ng and www.trcnigeria.ng, or by visiting any TRCN state or liaison office.
“Successful candidates can proceed with processing their certificates and licenses. Note that the validity of the examination results for certification is ONE (1) YEAR from the date of this publication,” the statement added.
The Council also urged unsuccessful candidates to enhance their skills through ICT and pedagogical training in preparation for the next PQE batch, scheduled for November.
